Welcome to RPPEO's Drug Availability Database, a one stop site for information on drug availability for Ontario Paramedicine.

This database covers drugs that are used under the Advance Life Support Patient Care Standards (v5.2 10Jul2023) and ACP Palliative Care Treat & Refer (v2.1, 20Mar2021), including those drugs under research protocols or expected in the near future. The purpose of this database is to provide information on drug availability so that Paramedic Services, Base Hospitals, and the Ministry of Health can proactively manage drug shortages, thus ensuring the residents of Ontario have access to appropriate and equitable healthcare.

The Drug Availability Database is maintained by the Regional Paramedic Program for Eastern Ontario (RPPEO) on a publicly accessible site, with data manually entered on a weekly basis, primarily from Health Canada's Drug Product Database, Drug Shortages Canada, and the Government of Canada's Recalls and Safety Alerts. Secondary sources include ad hoc updates on drug availability, expiry date extensions, recall notices, etc. from paramedic services, pharmaceutical suppliers, and manufacturers. We welcome drug availability information from users of the Drug Availability Database; please email information to RPPEO-Quality@toh.ca.

Using the Drug Availability Database

Drugs are listed in alphabetical order of active ingredient, then manufacturer and trade name. Included in the Drug (Active Ingredient) column is the ATC code, and the Equipment Standards (v3.7 01Feb2023) requirements.
The drug Status is current to the last modified date/time shown directly under the title of this page, according to the legend below. The last two columns, Notes and JIRA, are only completed if applicable; the former containing relevant information, while the later contains restricted-access organisation-specific case management links.
Certain drugs are optional, used for research, expected soon, or not included in either the equipment standards or the ALS PCS, these are indicated in magenta text.
